The Nativity
The angel said to the shepherds, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all people. For today in the city of David a Savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.” Lk 2:10
The Angel announced the greatest news the world has ever heard. The Savior has come. The news was so good that an old shepherd ran hard enough that his tunic fell off in the cold night air. Little did it matter, for the shepherd was warmed by the love of God that he found in the Baby. He found in the big, beautiful eyes of the Baby the reflection of the Father’s love for him and every human person.
And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” Lk 2:13 The peace of God descended upon Bethlehem on that blessed night. And because of the birth of the Messiah all people are now able to share the blessed peace of God’s Kingdom.
